The Wii U is released in just over a days time, for America at least, while Europe and Japan still have to wait over two weeks before touching the console. So here's the topic to spread your opinions on the console, what you love, what you hate and what you fall in love with...

It just works!

This system is Amazing! I've only had the chance to play a little bit of NintendoLand and ZombieU. Both are great games and they use the control is very unique ways.

No more friend codes is a big plus. You can already chat with a ton of people that have the WiiU which is very cool. Its like one huge community where you can just chat with random people, and add them as friends.

I havent had the chance to try too many of the Apps, but I did happen to try out the video chat to see what it would be like. So far that looks like its gonna be an Awesome feature once you add more of your friends.

Overall this is a great piece of hardware. I'm really excited to see what developers can come up with next.

Since there's now a workaround found out where you can use SD Cards as stroage, I might just get the Basic Wii U and use a 32GB SD Card. Helluva lot cheaper! And I can get it with Batman Arkham City for under £300, I'd say that's a steal.

If I were you I would get it ASAP! It may not have the games you want at the moment, but everything else about it is really cool. NintendoLand uses the controller in fun ways and is definitely worth the purchase. The video chat us gonna be cool, and the whole system is one huge community full of Nintendo players.

The controller is definitely a game changer. I've been playing my games while Jenny watches TV. The internet feature is just as fast as my laptop.

Well it's not released until next week, so I've got plenty of time. I'm not spending any more money now though until I get a job.

I've got a little over £400 so I'd be left with around £115... which isn't TOO bad I suppose.

Just sent in my pre-order for my Basic Wii U + Batman Arkham City Armored Edition! Woot! It'll be here either on Friday or Thursday next week!

I still have like £123 but still... now I feel super poor. :/

So Rory, what do you think will be the first WiiUWare game that you download? Of what's currently available, I think I would be forced to download Trine 2. That game looks fabulous, but I'm actually much more interested in 1001 Spikes & Fez, since those two games have a chance of reaching the 3DS eShop in the future. I believe 1001 Spikes is scheduled to released on the 3DS eShop as well. Just another game by Pixel I haven't had the chance to experience yet.


Edit: You know what, let me also direct the question above at you Chris. I know you're somewhat of a downloadable gamer as well, if not as much as Rory and myself.

I'm not sure what my first download will be. Trine 2 looks excellent, but its the $20 price tag that just doesnt agree with me...but I'm sure its worth the price. And I'm thinking of DL NSMBU. I might just DL all Nintendo games unto my system, and then just buy 3rd party games in the physical form.

I might download a few games for my Wii U, but it'll probably just be really good retail games only and have my 3DS for downloads and stuff.

You know that Nintendo is just as likely to replace a first-party physical cartridge/Blu-Ray, if it's lost or stolen, as they are to replace a downloadable game. I think I would actually go the other way around, if I were you Rory. Because I don't think Nintendo will replace a third-party physical cartridge/Blu-Ray, but they might just replace a third-party downloadable game. But I'm not you Rory, so that's totally your decision to make. Although, you may want to look into it further, just to be sure about Nintendo's policies'.

That's a really good point. I'll have to look into that a little more.

And I hope Nintendo updates Miiverse unto the 3DS. It's so much simpler to message and request friends.

I know they're going to do that eventually but as to when, that's anybody's guess. But I have a feeling it'll just be an app on the screen rather than part of the OS... which kinda sucks really. And I'm guessing it won't have the same amount of features as the Wii U either. :(

My want of the Wii U has subsided again... I might just cancel my pre-order and wait until next month. It's not like I really need it or anything. :/

And then I can save up and wait for some better games to start being dished out. :3

That sucks! Its so close to being released too...

Now I really want it again... it's like two sides of me are warring, buy it or not to buy it. At first I want to buy it but then I start thinking, do you really need it though?

I hate it when that happens.

EDIT: Found somewhere cheaper than ShopTo as well now, went on to Zavvi and they were selling a Wii U Basic set for £249.99 with Batman, helluva lot cheaper than ShopTo's £294.

Oh god, I read that article on Nintendo Life about shortage of stock of the Wii U in the UK... now I'm a bit worried as to whether I'll get it on release date or not now. Zavvi said that my order has been received and that the estimate dispatch is Monday, so I'm hoping that I will get it.

Nintendo, why didn't bring as much stock over to Europe?!?! D:

Hopefully you get it right away. Maybe you should give that store a call a make sure that you get it on launch day.

I've sent a query and they'll get back to me tomorrow about it... they changed their delivery estimate to 30/11/12, right on release date, fawk! I hope I don't have to wait until Monday before I can start playing on it, that'll be well annoying.

Question(s) for Rory:

How does the online connectivity thus far for the Wii U compare to the original Wii? After hearing how long it took to download Assassins Creed 3, I'm hoping it's better at least for online multi-player gaming purposes. Do you wire in your connection or use a wireless? I still can't believe that online is free, and have you had a chance to tether a Tivo to your new console yet?

I use a wireless connection and that pretty much is hooked up to everything in my huse that needs a connection, and plus I let 2 of my neighbors access it for a price . And I think my connection might be a tad slow from what Gameday told me.

I havent tried online in any games yet, but I'm sure that everything will run alot better than the Wii. I did try Netflix which ran perfectly smooth, and I do play on the Internet browser which runs really quick and you can also check it while your in a game which is another really cool feature.

Right now the only online game I have is AC3. And I dont plan on playing until I at least beat the game.

I also use a wireless connection for the 360. Hopefully if you're surfing the net there's good pop up protection, as well as pretty good virus protection. I know that I'm able to go on the web on my xbox, but I try to only use my laptop as much as possible because I'm scared of mistakenly doing damage to my console. I'm sure everything will be fine either way, I guess I'm a bit overly cautious. :P

Why would a console need pop up protection or virus protection? It can't even download files from the internet making a virus protection useless... lol, you make me laugh.

So then I take it you can't even open attachments on your e-mails if you browse on you console? I don't know...I've never tried...

Nope, not as far as I'm aware. I think the 3DS can open image attachments, but you can't save it to your SD Card.

EDIT: I cancelled my order with Zavvi now... after the amount of shit I've heard about them taking up to two weeks despatching items, not refunding customers for late deliveries and other crap, I just couldn't be bothered with it.

ShopTo might be more expensive but at least you get quality, fuck every other retailer.
